Scholarship Video Topic
America is home to people from many different backgrounds, beliefs, cultures, and life experiences. While diversity can be a source of strength, many communities today face social, economic, and political divisions that make it difficult for people to connect and work toward common goals.
For this scholarship, we invite students to consider the role that laws, policies, community programs, and individual action can play in bringing people together. Please create a one- to two-minute video essay answering the following questions:
- What does community mean to you?
- Have you witnessed social, economic, political, or cultural divisions within your community?
- What legal reforms, public policies, educational initiatives, or community programs could help bridge these divides and encourage greater understanding and cooperation?
- How do you hope to contribute to building stronger, more united communities through your education, career, or personal involvement?
Applicants are encouraged to draw upon their own experiences, observations, and aspirations while presenting thoughtful and constructive ideas for fostering connection and unity.
How to Create a Video for Your Bringing People Together in a Divided Community Scholarship Application
The scholarship selection committee with The Law Offices of Tad Nelson wants to hear your unique perspective on how individuals, communities, and institutions can work together to create a more inclusive and cooperative society. Successful submissions will demonstrate creativity, critical thinking, and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact.
Please do not use AI to generate the script for your video, modify your voice, create fake actors, or falsify your personal experiences. The inappropriate use of AI will result in a student’s application being automatically removed from the applicant pool.
Please double-check the scholarship’s video requirements before submitting your application for consideration. Your video should:
- Be recorded in well-lit areas on a device that’s held as still as possible
- Be between one and two minutes long
- Include your full name and the name of the Bringing People Together in a Divided Community Scholarship
- Highlight any sources you use to build out your conversation about community
